Fall Festival with Stem Dj Performances
Thursday October 25th, 5-8p, Taos Academy's Student Councils presents a Fall Festival with special performances by BassMint and STEM A+ Institute Djs. Taos is invited for a special evening of dance, booths, face painting, cake walk, photo booth, games, food, costume contest and fun!
All ages are invited to enjoy the music selections of emerging Student Djs: Renn, Poki, Lili, Kelp, Britin, Stellar, and Seb - with beats ranging from swing beat to dubstep, to soulful and tech house. These seven middle-school students, ranging in ages 11-13, took part in Taos Academy Charter School's STEM A+ Program, and have just completed an intensive seven week course in beginning djing with dj Chrystalline - learning everything from music selection, beat matching, blending to utilizing effects.
The STEM A+ Institute offers a variety of courses to middle and high school students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) disciplines by engaging students in project-based activities, guided by community professionals. The BassMint is an Interactive Learning Center & Dance venue, where youth and young adults can take classes in Djing, Music Production and performance arts and is located just across the street from Taos Academy. The STEM A+ Institute and The BassMint have collaborated for the past two years now, offering Djing to Taos Academy youth, who take the course at The BassMint twice weekly.
The Harvest Festival: Stem Dj Performance is free to the public. Booth tickets 2/$1 and concessions will be available for purchase. All proceeds benefit Taos Academy Student Council's Events. Special thanks to The BassMint Sponsors: Zia Energia, & Taos HOPE (Heart of Peaceful Expression).
